Why a regular check helps
Many men only see a GP when something is wrong. A regular check gives you a chance to pick up conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes and skin cancer early.
In your 40s
- Blood pressure at least every two years
- A diabetes risk assessment from 40
- A Heart Health Check from 45
- Skin checks, especially with lots of time outdoors
In your 50s and 60s
- The free National Bowel Cancer Screening Program kit every two years from 45 to 74
- A discussion about prostate cancer testing from 50, or earlier with a family history
- Cholesterol, weight and blood sugar checks
- Mental health, sleep and stress
From 75
A yearly health assessment, medication reviews, falls and bone health, and vaccinations such as flu, pneumococcal and shingles where eligible.
